In
1987, it was a year and a half before [a previous leg ulcer] finally
healed. [In 1991] after weekly debridement [and] a motorized compression
boot system to improve my circulation it still took a year to heal.
In May of this year (1998), a minor bruise became my third non-healing
[leg] ulcer, in the same area. My doctor suggested he would like to
get at the root cause and suggested there was a new procedure. The
[SEPS] operation was performed June 2. It's now mid-July and the wound
is almost completely healed. I've been up and down the ladder painting,
and bending and kneeling while gardening, and have felt no after-effects
whatsoever. The medical bills have been much less. This new procedure
is not only effective - it's fantastic. Thank God Dr. Elias had the
vision to try something new.

After
my CABG procedure, I suffered absolutely no pain in my legs. I deal
with patients with long incisions in their legs every day in my job.
My brother underwent a quadruple bypass, in which they made a long
incision in his right leg. He was out of work for 3 months. He was
amazed that I was doing so well so quickly. This is a much better
way. I was told by my doctor that I could go back to work after my
next visit (about 6 weeks). I think it's wonderful that someone developed
this technology.

I suffered from bilateral
hernias in 1995. Because of my busy practice as a surgeon, I wanted
to get back to normal activity as soon as possible, therefore I
had repairs performed with the extraperitoneal approach using the
GSI SPACEMAKER® product. The surgery was performed at about
7:00PM on a Friday night. That night I took two pain pills. By the
next day I was able to go out to dinner with friends. On Sunday
I packed my bags and carried about 60 pounds of luggage through
the airport on the way to the American College of Surgeons meeting
in New Orleans. By that evening I was experiencing no discomfort
and walked about three miles. The following day I returned to all
of my normal activities. I could not imagine having a better post-operative
recovery than I experienced with the extraperitoneal approach.
