Through General Surgical Innovations’ (“GSI”) patented tissue dissection technology, GSI has developed a range of surgical products that may deliver significant clinical and cost benefits. Through a small incision on the skin's surface, a surgeon uses products from GSI's proprietary line of SPACEMAKER® surgical balloon dissectors to gently create a predictable space between naturally occurring tissue layers at a surgical site, thus enabling the surgeon to perform minimally invasive surgery (“MIS”).

Patients undergoing MIS generally have smaller incisions, experience less pain and fewer complications, and recuperate more quickly with less scarring than do open surgery patients - and are therefore usually able to return more quickly to their normal lifestyles. In addition, the shorter hospital stays which may result from these procedures can reduce costs and improve efficiency of the healthcare provider.

ENDOSAPH™ KIT (INCLUDES SAPHFINDER™ SURGICAL BALLOON DISSECTOR AND SPACEKEEPER™ RETRACTOR), AND GSI HOOK AND FORK DISSECTORS
Problem: “Open heart surgery” (Coronary Artery Bypass Grafting or CABG) involves harvesting the saphenous vein for use as an alternative conduit to the heart in approximately 75% of the procedures and often involves traumatic and lengthy recovery times.

Solution: Minimally invasive saphenous vein harvest procedure using the GSI ENDOSAPH™ kit and ancillary instruments.

SEPS PROCEDURAL KIT (INCLUDES SPACEMAKER® SURGICAL BALLOON DISSECTOR, TROCAR AND SYRINGES)
Problem: Insufficient blood flow to lower extremities often results in severe ulcers in the lower leg. Traditional treatment in the US (compression therapy) generally only serves to alleviate symptoms, with a high rate of ulcer recurrence.

Solution: Subfascial Endoscopic Perforator Surgery using the GSI SEPS procedural kit.

SPACEMAKER® TOTAL SOLUTION™ HERNIA KIT (INCLUDES SPACEMAKER® I OR II SURGICAL BALLOON DISSECTOR, AIR BULB, MESH FIXATION DEVICE, MESH AND TWO TROCARS)
Problem: A hernia, which is a weakness or tear in the wall of the abdomen, can only be repaired surgically. Traditionally, this involves cutting through most of the abdominal wall.

Solution: Minimally invasive hernia repair performed without penetrating the abdominal cavity using the GSI SPACEMAKER® TOTAL SOLUTION™ hernia kit.

SPACEMAKER® SURGICAL BALLOON DISSECTORS
Problem: Traditional open surgery generally involves imprecise blunt finger dissection to create a pocket for insertion of a breast implant.

Solution: Minimally invasive surgery to gently create a pocket for insertion of a breast implant to facilitate a predictable, aesthetically symmetrical outcome using GSI SPACEMAKER® surgical balloon dissectors.
