TECHNIQUE TIPS FOR INSERTING THE
SPACEMAKER® BREAST BALLOON DISSECTOR

1Make a small incision (approximately 2cm) and dissect manually to the desired tissue plane (subglandular or submuscular). It is important to identify the correct layer prior to insertion of the SPACEMAKER Breast Balloon Dissector. Special Note: If inserting the SPACEMAKER Breast Balloon Dissector into the subglandular plane, it is necessary to dissect a tunnel the length of the balloon prior to device insertion.

2 Insert the SPACEMAKER Breast Balloon Dissector by slowly advancing the device until the proximal edge of the balloon is within the incision. Do not force.

3 Close the suction outlet and connect either the air bulb or 60cc syringe to luer tip fitting.

4 Inflate the SPACEMAKER Breast Balloon Dissector slowly, monitoring the inflation process to insure that the balloon opens completely. After the SPACEMAKER Surgical Balloon Dissector is inflated to the maximum recommended fill volume, it may then be left in place temporarily to assess symmetry .

5 Repeat steps 1-4 for the contralateral breast with a new balloon cartridge.

6 Assess pocket dissection and symmetry with both balloons in place.

7 Deflate the SPACEMAKER Breast Balloon Dissector by opening the suction outlet and remove slowly once completely deflated. (Normal wall suction may be attached to the suction outlet for quicker evacuation).

Cartridge Loading
1
Orient the guide rod with the GSI logo face up.

2 Insert the guide rod into the cartridge, aligning the pin on the guide rod with the slot located on the cartridge.

3 Snap the cartridge firmly in place, which will lock it in place on the guide rod.

Cartridge Removal

1 Grasp the SPACEMAKER Surgical Balloon Dissector guide rod handle with one hand and the white plastic collar of the cartridge with the other.

2 Separate the cartridge from the guide rod by pulling the cartridge off the guide rod, dislodging the cartridge from the guide rod pin.
